Albino Granulosus Catfish (Pterodoras granulosus)
The Albino Granulosus Catfish is a striking, rare color morph of the classic thorny catfish, prized for its pale cream-to-pink body and red eyes. This armored species is hardy, long-lived, and grows to an impressive size, making it best suited for experienced aquarists with large aquariums.
Max Size:
Up to ~24–28 inches (60–70 cm)
Tank Size:
Minimum 180–300 gallons for adults; requires ample swimming space and strong filtration
Tank Mates:
Best kept with large, robust fish such as large cichlids, arowanas, and other sizeable catfish. Avoid small fish, as they may be eaten. Not ideal with overly aggressive tank mates.
Diet:
Omnivorous; accepts sinking pellets, wafers, shrimp, mussels, and occasional vegetable matter.
Additional Notes:
Primarily nocturnal and more active at night. Known to produce clicking sounds using its pectoral spines. Use caution when handling due to sharp armor and spines.
